At Avalanche Geeks we are lucky to work with two of the best partners in the backcountry ski industry: Black Diamond and Dynastar skis.
We are excited to be able to announce a new partnership with Black Diamond this winter. Most outdoor enthusiasts will know some element of the Black Diamond story be it their ropes, climbing hardware, packs, clothing or avalanche safety equipment.
Black Diamond are committed to designing and engineering the most innovative mountain equipment in the world. You can find their story here.
We’ve been using their innovative Snow Saw Pro as an extension to their Vapour Carbon ski poles for several seasons, this combination being regraded as the industry standard tool for isolating ECT or PST columns.
Last season Bruce was using the Transfer Lt shovel and loved it, especially combined with the Venom Lt ice axe. The Black Diamond Ice Screw is the industry standard, we have been using the Ultralight as our standard ski touring screw for skiing on glacial terrain and haven’t found anything else that works as well.
Heading into the winter season we will be using Dawn Patrol soft shell partnered with Recon Lt shell then in the colder months and for more freeride skiing we will be skiing the Recon Stretch Pro Jacket and Stretch Pants. Keep your eyes open for updates on social media.
Born in the shadow of Mont Blanc Dynastar have been producing world class skis for more than 50 years. We are proud to be supported by a company known for its innovative design and high quality products.
Bruce and Mike have been skiing on Dynastar skis for more than 10 years. We are skiing on the super versatile M Pro 99 as our everyday ride, its the perfect ski for lift accessed skiing and side country short tours; stiff enough to grip on the piste and hard snow, with an early rise, soft tip which rises onto the surface in difficult snow. When it comes to longer tours the M-Tour 99 has been our the ski of choice for the last four seasons: light, grippy and playful, this ski is great on the up and amazing on the down with a light swing weight for the steeps yet wide enough for backcountry powder days. Both these skis while feeling completely different on the snow have the same geometry which means we always have the right laser pre-cut skins with us, produced exclusively by Pomoca for Dynastar.
New for this winter is the M-Tour 100, a wide & light ski that we can’t wait to try here where we live in the French Alps where Dynastar were born in Chamonix.
You can find the whole range here.
We offer formalised education that conforms to the American Avalanche Assoc. (A3) syllabus guidelines here in Europe.
